What is glycolic peel?

Being one of the types of surface chemical peeling, it primarily helps cleanse the upper layer of the skin from dead horny cells, while evening its relief by reducing the thickness of the stratum corneum, while increasing the thickness of the living layers of the epidermis, normalizing pigmentation in areas excessively stained with melanin ( freckles, age spots).

Glycolic peel is a chemical peeling procedure in which the main component of the drug is glycolic acid (in other words, hydroxyacetic acid).

    Glycolic peel

Glycolic acid belongs to the group of fruit acids and in nature it is found in unripe grape fruits, beets or sugarcane. The glycolic acid molecule has a relatively small size among other fruit acids, so its penetration into the upper layers of the skin occurs quickly. At the same time, it is easily perceived by the cells of the epidermis and is able to affect the deep layer of the skin, stimulating the work of collagen hyaluronic acid without complications and unpleasant consequences.

Glycolic peel preparations contain glycolic acid of various concentrations from 5 to 70%. The activity of the drug for glycolic peeling also depends not only on the dose of acid concentration, but also on the pH of the finished solution. For example, if it is necessary to penetrate the agent into a deeper layer of the skin, the pH of the solution decreases, and the concentration of glycolic acid rises.

    FAQ

Yes, peeling is an absolutely safe procedure for health.

From 3-4 months and longer depending on the individual characteristics of the body. Sometimes a second course is required to achieve the desired effect and a longer lasting result.

Before the peeling procedure, it is important not to sunbathe for at least 2 weeks, stop taking tetracycline antibiotics, it is advisable to refuse to take hormonal oral contraceptives.

Redness and tightness of the skin pass after 5-7 days. It is forbidden to sunbathe for at least a month, even with creams with a high level of protection. This is necessary in order to prevent the formation of pigmentation.

In the absence of serious aesthetic problems, it is enough to do one procedure 1-2 times a year. To solve certain severe skin problems and intensive rejuvenation, a course of procedures is required, which is selected individually by the cosmetologist according to indications.

During peeling, tingling, slight burning of the skin may occur. However, these sensations are tolerable and do not cause severe pain.
