Phonophoresis / Ionophoresis

These are used both for the treatment of various diseases, and in cosmetology to improve the condition and appearance of the skin.

Changes are noticeable after 1-2 procedures.

You can return to your usual lifestyle immediately after the procedure.

What is phonopharesis/ionopharesis?

Phonopharesis Ionofares

The most significant difference between iontophoresis and phonophoresis is the different principle of action. In the first case there are galvanic currents, in the second – ultrasound. But the main goals of using both procedures are very close: to help drugs penetrate deeper under the skin to provide a more effective effect.

Both processes are referred to physiotherapeutic treatment and both can be used to carry drugs through the external skin integument. Let’s try to understand in more detail what iontophoresis and phonophoresis are.

Phonophoresis, or sonophoresis, involves the use of ultrasound in combination with drugs, which are usually in the form of a gel. The drug is applied to the skin, and then ultrasonic waves are used to help the drug penetrate the skin in a given area.

    About the procedure

    Duration of the procedure:

    30 minutes

    Recommended Course:

    5 to 10 procedures

    Results

    Rejuvenation
    Improved muscle tone and lifting effect
    Moisturizing of face

    The main differences between the two procedures:

    • Iontophoresis is often used for direct and rapid exposure to drugs. Phonophoresis, having a weaker physical effect, is better suited for prolonged absorption, or prolonged.
    • The time of treatment by iontophoresis is often about 15-20 minutes, while phonophoresis requires no more than 10 minutes.
    • Ionophoresis is carried out using an electrode, and phonophoresis is carried out through special probes emitting ultrasonic energy.
    • With iontophoresis, there are chances of a chemical burn, and phonophoresis is a relatively safe procedure.
    • Iontophoresis can cause pain during treatment, phonophoresis is always painless.
    • Iontophoresis requires a more trained specialist; two hours of preparation is enough to work with phonophoresis.

    FAQ

    Yes, of course! Current pulses open the pores and contribute to the removal of sebaceous plugs.

    Medications for the procedure are chosen by a specialist individually. The most commonly used components are:

    • Vitamin C or ascorbic acid – perfectly copes with acne and age spots;
    • Vitamin PP (nicotinic acid) – dilates blood vessels and helps increase blood circulation. Penetrating into the epidermis, it enhances cellular metabolism, accelerates the production of collagen and elastin in cells (necessary to maintain the elasticity and youth of the skin substances);
    • Hyaluronic acid – saturates the skin with moisture in the deep layers, eliminates dryness and peeling;
    • Liquid aloe juice in ampoules – disinfects the skin, fights subcutaneous inflammation and pustules;
    • Zinc paste or zinc sulfate – dries acne, reduces sebum production, reduces enlarged pores, and eliminates allergic rashes;
    • Salicylic acid – used to solve the problems of teenage acne and acne in adults.

    Iontophoresis in cosmetology is carried out to transport ions under the skin. This is accomplished thanks to the galvanic current of low power. It does not damage the dermis and does not lead to a violation of its integrity.

    Results will be visible after the 1st procedure.
